CHARLOTTE N.C. (WBTV) - Two people from North Carolina won 150 000 off Powerball lottery tickets in a recent drawing. State lottery officials said Sam Firoozi of Currituck County and Diego Coronado-Sanchez from Charlotte scored the big wins in the Saturday Dec. 20 drawing. The Powerballs website showed that for that drawing the jackpot was an estimated 1.43 billion. Two drawings later on Christmas Eve a person in Arkansas won the big prize which had swelled to 1.82 billion. Lottery officials said Firoozi bought his lucky ticket at the 7-Eleven on Caratoke Highway in Moyock while Coronado-Sanchez got his at the Harris Teeter on South Tryon Street in Charlotte. Both players matched four white balls plus the Powerball and had Power Play tickets with 3X multipliers. So what would have normally been a 50 000 prize turned into 150 000. After taxes both men took home 107 626. During that same Powerball drawing eight people from across the country won 1 million. Powerball drawings are held every Monday Wednesday and Saturday at 10 59 p.m. EST. Also Read Single ticket wins 1.82B Powerball jackpot after Christmas Eve drawing Copyright 2025 WBTV.
